How Does it Work?

  1. Enrollment Students can enroll online through the NIOS website or offline by visiting an accredited NIOS center. The enrollment process involves filling out an application form, submitting necessary documents, and paying the required fees.
  1. Course Selection Students must choose a minimum of five subjects, with at least one or at most two languages. The curriculum offers a wide range of subjects, including languages, mathematics, science, social studies, and vocational subjects, allowing students to tailor their education according to their interests and future goals.
  1. Learning Materials NIOS provides self-learning materials in various formats, including printed books, digital content, and audio-visual resources. These materials are designed to be self-explanatory and learner-friendly.
  1. Study Support Students have access to academic support through Personal Contact Programs (PCP) and Tutor Marked Assignments (TMA). These support systems provide an opportunity for students to interact with teachers, clarify doubts, and receive guidance on assignments.
  1. Assessment Students are assessed through a combination of assignments (TMA) and public examinations. NIOS conducts public examinations twice a year, and students have the flexibility to choose the exam dates and centers according to their convenience.
  1. Certification Upon successfully passing the examinations and completing the required assignments, students receive a Secondary Education Certificate, equivalent to a 10th-standard pass from any formal board.
